ISTD Examination Class
At the Debbie Fyffe Theatre School, we offer ISTD Tap classes for all standards. By following the ISTD syllabus, students work on structured exercises and amalgamations. Learning to tap dance will teach children the enjoyment of dance through the different sounds and the creation of rhythms. Within a typical tap dance class children work on technical exercises to improve the quality of their beats, line and style, body alignment and learn to develop light and shade within a sequence of steps.
The rhythmic content of the ISTD Tap classes covered, will improve musicality and development of different music styles. These classes are designed to increase simple beats from a young age to percussive feet improving your child’s rhythmic awareness, timing, co-ordination and sense of performance, whilst gaining a toe tapping sense of achievement.
At DFTS children can start Tap classes from 2 ½ years of age.
This is an ISTD Examination class and pupils have the opportunity to take an exam within this discipline from the age of 6 years.

Tap Class Times
At present our Tap Classes take place on Saturdays
DFTS Little Star Pre-School Classes are 30 minutes lessons for children between the ages of 2.5yrs – 5yrs. Melody Bear Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves class – At present we are enrolling new little Bears to start a new class.
Little Star Beginners classes run for 30 – 45 minutes for children between the ages or 5yrs – 9yrs. Students are constantly assessed to ensure they are within the very best class for their age and standard.
ISTD Graded Classes are 60 minutes in duration and for children between the ages of 8yrs – 18yrs. At the age of 8yrs, students are assessed, to ensure they are placed within the correct class for their standard.
